Asteroid Mining
Each miner has a quota of 4000 kg of ore per month. If quota is not made, then the quota for the next month is increased by the amount missed. In addition, the resupply shuttle may bring less, or poorer quality food. They will normally be lenient for the first few months to allow miners to get used to the environment but, after that, they expect the miners to produce at least 2000 kg per month. If they do that, then the company will bring food, water and air. If they make more than 4000 kg, then the company will pay them Cr1 for each additional kg above 4000, provided they are not in the hole from failing to meet quota the previous month.
To mine, the PC makes a skill roll each week (4 weeks in a month). If the roll comes out to success, he has mined 400 kg of oridium that week. For every point below success, he has mined an additional 200 grams of oridium. Thus, if the PC has an 8 or less roll, and rolls a 7 for the week, he has mined 600 kg. For every point above success, he has mined 100 kg less. Thus, if the PC has an 8 or less roll, and rolls a 9 for the week, he still managed to mine 300 kg..
Characters with a sustainable (no limitations) SPEED of higher than 2, get one additional mining roll per month per point of SPEED above 2. Subtract one bonus roll if the PC must concentrate on other things (such as maintaining life support).
For their first month of mining, characters suffer a -5 to their rolls as they adjust to asteroid mining. The second month, the penalty drops to -4. It is -3 the third month, -2 the fourth month, -1 the fifth month and drops to 0 on the sixth month. For any month where the character makes two or more of their rolls, the penalty will drop an extra point for the following month.
