CURT: "I have to admit, I don't understand why we are moving so slow. We seem to be creeping along here attempting to defend against these attacks. Perhaps we should just all make a break for it. We may get hit by the creatures a few times, but we're already being struck repeatedly by them. We're all going to be dead at the slow pace we're going in my opinion."

IANNA (OOC): I'm assuming that we're moving very slowly as we can't see. Are half moves too fast? Steve, can we make a break for it. I'm assuming we can't.

GM: Correct. If you take off running, you will be running through thick darkness and could easily run right over the side of the platform and into the red mists far below.

On phase 8, the Shadow that attacked Ianna flees while the two new Shadows attack Curt and Shooter. Both are hit. Curt's alien body protects him from much of the draining effect but he still feels some effect (2 points of BODY drain resulting in -1 BODY, and 1 point of STR drain resulting in -1 STR). Shooter's force field again provides some protection but, unlike the previous hit, does not provide complete immunity (3 points of BODY drain resulting in -1 BODY).

Then Shooter, Ianna, Tal and Dasan all attack the Shadow on Curt. All of them hit, leaving the Shadow frozen in place.

On phase 10, Marco, who is the only one who can sense all of the Shadows through the thick darkness, reports that the Shadows are fleeing. Indeed, the two that attacked Curt and Shooter flee and none move in to replace them. After the Shadows flee, the darkness slowly starts to lift.

GM: The battle is over unless the group is going to try to pursue the Shadows. The drained attributes start to recover at a rate of 1 point every post-phase 12 recovery.

GM: As the darkness starts to lift, Jack can see that the bridge was to the right and not to the left. The group was headed towards the corner of the platform.

GM: Everyone can have 3 EXP for that difficult battle and the adventure thus far. Let me know how you want to spend it. Unless you have a very good justification for having power defense, then I don't want everyone to suddenly buy it. I intend for power attacks to be somewhat rare and Power Defense should only be bought by those who can justify it (Ianna, Curt and Shooter all have it as part of their concept and Marco should buy some vs mental-only drains).
