Subject:Grievance Rep
Vamperina duties as grievance rep give her access to the new assistant warden, a young man by the name of Soureen Amidi, on day 7 of month 21. She meets with Soureen and the warden herself a few times over the next few days. Once the situation has been resolved, she tells the group what it was about.

"A new prisoner named Derrick Gamboni arrived this month. He is assigned to CB1 and came to me in my capacity as grievance rep. He told me that, back on Regina, he had made a plea bargaining agreement with the prosecutor in his case that he would plead guilty. One of the stipulations in the plea bargaining agreement was that he could not be sent to a mining prison. I brought this up with the assistant warden and he tried to brush me off. However, I pushed the issue and he eventually pulled out Derrick's file and found the agreement. He read it over and then said that such agreements were not legally binding after the prisoner has pleaded guilty. I'm no lawyer but that didn't sound right to me. Anyway, to make a long story short, I raised a stink and threatened to get the issue brought to the attention of the media through prisoners that are due to be released soon. I'm not sure how effective I would have been and I don't think they were happy with me but, in the end, they capitulated and talked to Derrick. They made a new agreement with Derrick, in the presence of a Circle City attorney, and he agreed to forgo that part of the plea bargaining agreement, in return for a cushy job in the prison kitchen for his entire term, which was 10 years, but was reduced to nine as a result of the new agreement. I feel certain that the new warden acted in good faith. The lawyer was my idea and I picked one that I'd seen commercials for on Circle City TV."

"I wouldn't be surprised if I lose my job as grievance rep but I'm otherwise satisfied at how things turned out. At one point, Soureen offered me a bribe of any cushy job I wanted, regardless of whether I qualified for it or not, if I would keep quiet and help sweep the issue under the rug. However, that's not my way."

GM: I already sent my die roll off to Keith and she did manage to keep her Grievance Rep job (barely).

JACK: "Interesting, to say the least. Sounds like this Soureen is starting off corrupt and will likely be as bad as the old warden by the time he's done here. I doubt we can use it against him, but it's useful to know none the less."
